Work “one on one” with Artistic Director Emily Mattina on everything
from audition techniques to preparing for a public speaking event and
corporate presentations. Learn about using your voice as an
instrument, stage presence and other useful public speaking tools.

Fall Classes
The Play’s The
Thing
Students will study the play-within-a-play scenes from Shakespeare’s
comedies and tragedies such as Hamlet,
A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Love’s
Labour’s Lost. Join us to discover how a performance
within a performance can add whole new levels of drama!

Mistaken
Identity
Many of Shakespeare’s famous comedies include the theme of mistaken
identity. Students will work on selections from Comedy of Errors,
Twelfth Night and As You Like It while exploring the mishaps that occur
when someone is not quite who they seem to be.

Winter Classes
Romeo and Juliet
Students will work on monologues and short scenes from one of history’s
most famous love stories, Romeo and
Juliet. Focus will be on individual character development
as well as ensemble with scene work.

The Four Great
Tragedies
This class will focus on the four most famous and renowned tragedies in
the Shakespearian canon: Othello,
King Lear, Macbeth, and Hamlet.
Students will work on individual monologues and two-person scenes,
focusing on how Shakespeare used his language to create feelings of
despair and isolation in the world of his plays.

Spring Classes
Poetry Through
The Years
Students will study the sonnets of Shakespeare as well as the poetry of
Donne and e e cummings, using movement and text analysis to create
individual worlds for each poem.

Audition
Class/Overview of Classic Modern Drama
Continuing on the success of last spring’s classes, students will hone
their auditioning skills, learning about Cold Readings, Text and
Character Analysis, and the breaking down of Monologues to ease their
anxiety about auditioning and further their skills as artists.
