Here's what we did last year:

Shakespeare-a-thon Menu, 2016

7-9am Kick Off:  Music, coffee, tea, and scones, plus special guest poet Peter Mulholland demonstrates how to write a sonnet.

9am-12pm Student Shakespeare: Waterbury Arts Magnet School performs!  Their show includes Twelfth Night, directed by Emily Mattina & Scott Schulte.

12-1pm Gulliver’s Travels:  Join the Shakesperience team for a selection from one of their most acclaimed performances. Students from Roger Sherman School (Meriden) attending!

1-2pm Folklore Interactive Workshop:  Come take part in this engaging workshop on Folklore from around the world. 

2-3pm Shakespeare Interactive Workshop: Join us during this hour and participate in Shakespeare scenes!  This workshop has taken CT by storm since 1996. 

3-4pm Waterbury Interactive Spring Tour Preview:  Sneak a peek at one of our greatest programs, Waterbury Interactive: Our Neighborhoods, Our City. Original script and lyrics created by students working together with adults from OLLI and the Palace Ambassadors.

4-5pm Shakesperience Music:  Join us for pre-dinner music by Doug Donato, composer of original music for more than six Shakesperience productions.

5-6pm Dinner with Shakespeare: Enjoy watching and participating in the Bard’s banquet scenes…complete with pizza!

6-7pm Julius Caesar:  Shakesperience resident actors perform their Spring 2016 touring production of Julius Caesar

7-9pm Two Gentlemen and a Workshop:  Watch and participate as our actors and musicians sample for you this summer’s outdoor show: Two Gentlemen of Verona!

9-10pm Mind, Body, and Good Articulation!:  Perform yoga and meditation while listening to original pronunciation of Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets.

10pm-12am Shakespeare/Marlowe: This original work depicts a call and response relationship of two playwrights.  Don't miss the reading of our latest signature production.

12-4am Sonnets by Candlelight:  Finally cross “Read all 154 of Shakespeare’s sonnets” off your bucket list after this audience-participatory reading. Every. Single. Sonnet. Led by Artistic Director Emily Mattina.

4-6am Rosencrantz and…Frankenstein?:  Be the first to see a workshop of a new play by one of Shakesperience’s talented young playwrights!

6-9am History Plays with Resident Actors:  Come play through a weaving of the history plays as created by one of our up-and-coming resident artists. Tea and scones will be served. 

9-10am The Prince & The Pauper: Join us (and preschoolers from the Greater Waterbury Y) as we perform this classic.  

10am-12pm Julius Caesar: Students from St. Timothy’s Middle School (West Hartford) work on their production of Julius Caesar

12-1pm Improv & lunch:  Bring your lunch and do some improvisation with our talented company members.

1-2 pm The Bard as Businessman & Death of A Salesman: Join a conversation about how Shakespeare was actually a pretty good businessman, complete with a reading by students of The Enlightenment School (Waterbury) of Death of a Salesman

2-3pm Math & Technical Theatre:  Jeffrey Lapham, Executive Director, discusses the importance of mathematics in technical theatre.

3-4pm A Candle in the Dark:  Edith Reynolds, co-owner of the John Bale Book Company, discusses volunteerism and the urban frontier.

4-5pm Shakespeare & Science:  Bryan Baker, local science teacher, discusses the science in Shakespeare’s plays with Artistic Director Emily Mattina. 

5-6pm Two Gentlemen, Take Two!:  Students from our Saturday Acting Intensives present their final performance:  Two Gentlemen of Verona!

6-7pm: Final countdown party!  Everyone is welcome to join in the final countdown of Give Local 2016. Light refreshments will be served.
